Born in Detroit, Joel spent his early years in Michigan before moving with his family to South Carolina. Detroit's rich musical legacy—the unmistakable mark of a city that helped shape the sound of generations—left an early impression, helping Joel develop a deep appreciation for great songwriting and timeless musicianship that would become a lifelong connection to music. In South Carolina, that passion continued to grow as he developed his musical voice and began defining his own sound. Music was never just an interest; it was in his blood. For Joel, making music was inevitable.

 

Growing up in a household where music was an integral part of family life, Joel developed a natural love for sound. His appreciation for music extends beyond listening; it reflects his deep understanding of where it’s been, who shaped it, and how it’s evolved. That love for music history, along with his respect for those who came before him, shows up in everything he creates, adding a layer of nostalgia that grounds his sound while still leaving room for something fresh and entirely his own. A self-taught keyboardist and acoustic guitarist who learned to play entirely by ear in his father’s church, Joel was expressing himself through music long before he realized it was one of his greatest gifts. By the time he studied Music Theory in college, he had already developed a musical intuition shaped by years of sound engineering, leading worship, and spending hours studying the craft of music legends who knew how to move people—body, mind, and soul.

 

His songs reflect years of quiet refinement and an ear for musical nuances... the kind that make a track linger long after it ends. They deliver a refreshing blend of vulnerability and boldness, mixing sounds that tap into something timeless. Sounds that challenge the norm and speak to his evolution as an artist. His debut single "YOU" opens the door to his upcoming album ALL I WANTED TO SAY. It was the first song Joel completed that never got old to him, a return to where he needed to be creatively and emotionally. Every lyric serves as a reminder of the power of speaking what’s been left unsaid.
